Hille Perl

Hille Perl began to play the viola da gamba at the age of five. For her, music is the foremost of communication between human beings, more precise, unambiguous, and intense than language, and of greater emotional significance than any other experience besides love. To her, music is a means of connecting not only he past and the future but also a way of socially integrating the most conflicting aspects of existence. She travels the world, playing concerts and recording CDs with different groups (Los Otros, Sirius Viols, Consort the Age of Passion) or soloizing, mostly in the field of 17^th and 18^th Century music but also letting the music taker her to places she has never dreamed of. When she is not on the road, she lives in her farmhouse in North Germany together with her family, her horses, as well as some chickens, dogs, cats, and rabbits. As a professor of viola da gamba at the University of the Arts in Bremen she is passionate in teaching her students everything she knows about music, gamba playing and art. This includes her belief that it is not necessary to be jealous of others who may play better.
