Midori Seiler

A musician from the start: born in Salzburg into a musical family as the daughter of German-Japanese pianists, Midori Seiler’s training took her to Basel, London, and Berlin. Her teachers were Thomas Zehetmair, Sándor Véigh, Adelina Oprean, David Takeno, Eberhard Feltz and Stephan Mai. As the concertmistress of numerous well-known orchestras including the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Anima Eterna, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, and the Deutschen Kammerphilharmonie Bremen she has toured Europe, South America, Asia and the United States. Moreover, she has established her reputation as a soloist, seen for example in her role of the choreographed production of 4 Elements Seasons by choreograph and dancer Juan Kruz Diaz de Garaio Esnaola together with the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin.

Midori Seiler has also recorded numerous prize winning CDs, including the Mozart violin concertos, her own reconstruction of J. S. Bach’s violin concerto BWV 1052, as well as the solos to Rimsky-Korsakov’s Sheherazade. The DVD of 4 Elements – 4 Seasons, released in September 2009, will be followed in February 2010 by the CD recording of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and Rebel’s Les Elements on the harmonia mundi label. Her next recording, featuring Bach’s solo partitas, will be released soon on Edel Classics. Midori Seiler’s concert schedule also includes performances of violin sonatas and chamber music by Ravel, Franck, and Mendelssohn.
